At PTP, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. On Saturday, September 21, 2024, several members of our Cincinnati team, along with their families, came together to participate in the ALS Walk, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for those impacted by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Coordinated by our very own Lori Burg, the team braved the heat to show their support for this important cause.

A group of PTP employees and their family members wearing orange WalkALS shirts, standing together at the starting line of the ALS Walk in Cincinnati under a banner that reads

For many of us, this walk holds a special significance as we have personal connections to ALS. Participating in this event was not only a way to raise funds but also to honor those we know and love who have been affected by this devastating disease.

Despite the extreme heat, the team’s spirit remained high as they proudly wore their WalkALS: Unite for Life shirts and completed the walk. It was an inspiring morning, filled with solidarity and support from the broader Cincinnati community.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated, donated, and supported the cause. Your efforts are making a difference in the fight to find a cure for ALS.

About the ALS Walk
The ALS Walk is an annual event that unites people across the country to help raise awareness and funds for research, care services, and advocacy efforts for individuals battling ALS. The funds raised help provide much-needed support for those affected and contribute to the ongoing research to find a cure.

A group of smiling volunteers, including members of the PTP Gives Back team and their families, stand together in the kitchen of Hope Lodge Dallas after preparing and serving a meal for the residents.

We are proud to be part of the PTP Gives Back team and to have had the opportunity to serve at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Dallas.

For those who might not know, our PTP Gives Back team coordinates all of PTP’s community service efforts. We’ve been active across the country, from Boston to Ohio, supporting food pantries and local organizations. Since 2022, we’ve made a dedicated effort to partner with the American Cancer Society, an organization close to our hearts.

Here in Texas, we took a different approach this time. Instead of our usual dinner party, some long-time family friends and I decided to collaborate on a special dinner service for the Hope Lodge in Dallas. This impressive facility, just three years old, offers 50 guest rooms, game rooms, TV/movie rooms, an exercise facility, and transportation to nearby hospitals for those undergoing cancer treatment.

Last night, we served a Greek-inspired menu that the guests and their caregivers seemed to enjoy, followed by some fun PTP Trivia with small prizes. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the guests, hear their stories, and support them during a challenging time.

A collage of photos showing PTP Gives Back team members and their families preparing and serving food, interacting with guests, and enjoying a night of community service at Hope Lodge Dallas. The images include scenes from the kitchen, dining area, and group activities like trivia games, highlighting the team's effort to provide a warm and supportive experience for the residents.

If anyone at PTP is interested in joining our community service efforts, please reach out! Our PTP Gives Back team works closely with the American Cancer Society on various fundraising and service opportunities, primarily based in Boston, MA, where PTP is headquartered.

Special thanks to Mark H. and family, and the Besel family, for helping plan, prepare, and serve the meal. Your partnership made this evening truly special.

“The Hope Lodge is not just a building, it’s a home.” – Hope Lodge Guest and Survivor

We had a deeply impactful evening as the PTP team, including Ethan Simmons, Mike McElaney, Patrick McGillicuddy, Eric Ransden, and Hong Pun, along with the AWS MASS SMB team including RJ Grandpre, Christopher Loo, Dustin DiGregorio, Andrea Gallo, and John Murphy, served dinner to the incredible guests and their caregivers at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Boston.

The highlight of the night was hearing the powerful stories of hope and resilience, with guests ringing the 🔔 to celebrate the completion of their treatment. It was a humbling experience to witness firsthand the tremendous work being done at Hope Lodge, and the deep gratitude expressed by those staying there truly touched our hearts.

We’re honored to have spent this evening alongside the American Cancer Society and the inspiring individuals they support. Giving back to our community and being part of this journey with ACS is a privilege we hold dearly.

Thank you to everyone who made this evening so special.

Collage of photos from the PTP Gives Back team's visit to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Boston, showcasing their Greek-themed dinner service and trivia night activities.

On November 14th, 2023, the PTP Gives Back team made another visit to serve the wonderful guests of the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Boston, MA.  The menu planned was a Greek theme complete with traditional Greek salad, grilled garlic/lemon chicken, lemon rice, tzatziki and grilled pita bread to put it all together.  All ingredients were purchased by the PTP Gives Back team and prepared from scratch to deliver a tasty, nourishing meal for the Hope Lodge Guests.

After dinner, our team of technical wizards helped get the guests connected to Aha Slides, the platform we use to play trivia and played four trivia games with the guests competing, and laughing, for some prizes.  Our team enjoys the conversations with the guests and the opportunity to help them have an enjoyable evening where they don’t have to think about cooking or meal preparation.  We’re already looking forward to our next service opportunity!

The PTP Gives Back team was honored to have the opportunity to provide dinner and entertainment to the guests and caregivers at the American Cancer Society (ACS) Hope Lodge in Boston, MA.  The Hope Lodge provides the opportunity for organizations like PTP to plan, prepare and serve dinner to the Hope Lodge guests during their stay as they receive treatment.  This was a tremendous experience for the PTP team and we all enjoyed our conversations with our dinner guests.  We are looking forward to our next opportunity to serve this great organization!

History of the Hope Lodge

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment and permanently reside more than 40 miles away from their cancer treatment center.

Established in 1970, the Charleston, SC Hope Lodge was the first facility of its kind in the country for cancer patients and caregivers. The concept came from Margot Freudenberg, a leader in the Charleston medical and business communities, who saw a similar facility while traveling through Australia and New Zealand with President Eisenhower’s People to People Ambassador Program. After her own family was touched by cancer, Margot was determined to establish the very first Hope Lodge community in Charleston. Now a nationwide program of the American Cancer Society, over 30 Hope Lodge facilities in the United States and Puerto Rico serve patients and caregivers from all over the world.

Actively involved in the Hope Lodge program until she was 105, Margot was the longest-serving American Cancer Society volunteer to date. Her attitude of gratitude, despite being forced from her home during the Nazi occupation of Germany, still inspires us today. Her legacy of grace, giving, and service live on through our wonderful Hope Lodge volunteers.

Logo of Matthew 25: Ministries featuring a blue and white globe encircled by the ministry's name in blue text. The PeakPlus team out of PTP’s Cincinnati, OH office came together last week with a repeat of service assisting the great work of Matthew 25: Ministries. With a desire to support our local communities, PTP actively works with Matthew 25: Ministries, which is based in Cincinnati. The mission of Matthew 25: Ministries is to fulfill Matthew 25:34-40 of the New Testament by providing nutritional food to the hungry, clean water to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, affordable shelter to the homeless, medical care to the ill, and humanitarian supplies to those in need. Additionally, Matthew 25: Ministries is committed to fulfilling Matthew 25:40 by educating the public on the conditions and needs of the “least of these” and by providing resources for action.

This event was focused on supporting the ministry to provide candy and pre-lit Christmas trees to create a special experience for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families during the holiday season. The PeakPlus team raised money, which was matched by PTP, and then came together to purchase the requested items, deliver them to Matthew 25: Ministries, and assist in stocking. Being a small part of the amazing logistical machine from Matthew 25: Ministries is time well spent for the team at PTP! More service events to come from our teams in Boston and Dallas.

At PTP, we don’t just solve IT problems—we help solve community challenges too. We believe strong communities build stronger businesses, and that’s why we take pride in both the technical services we deliver and the social impact we create.

The PTP teams in Norwood, MA and Cincinnati, OH continue to demonstrate our commitment to giving back. Whether through donations or volunteer work, we aim to support those in need and strengthen bonds within the communities we serve.

Recently, our headquarters team in Norwood rallied around a shared mission: helping local families facing food insecurity. Together, we raised $2,800 to purchase essential food items for the Norwood Food Pantry. But our support didn’t stop at fundraising—we personally shopped, delivered, stocked, and sorted the food. It was a hands-on, rewarding experience that allowed us to directly impact the lives of those relying on the pantry’s services.

Our Cincinnati team is just as dedicated—continuing the PTP tradition of rolling up our sleeves and making a difference in our local neighborhoods. From food drives to holiday giving events, our goal remains the same: use our time and resources to support meaningful causes.

Want to learn more about our community involvement or how PTP’s cloud services support not just businesses but broader missions? Visit our About Us page to explore how we give back—and how you can join us.

Throughout the year, PTP identifies opportunities to help those in need and give back to the communities in which we work. The holiday season is when help is especially needed, and our Cincinnati and Norwood teams, along with our families, spend a day of service with community organizations.

This year, our Cincinnati team volunteered at the Matthew 25 Ministries, which helps the poorest of the poor and disaster victims throughout the United States and around the world by delivering much-needed goods and supplies.

In Norwood, we spent a day of service at the Ecumenical Community Food Pantry which has served over 2,500 families in our area since its inception in 1989. These giving back opportunities are part of our culture at PTP, and we not only enjoy the chance to serve, but we also have a lot of team-bonding fun in the process.

Happy Holidays from everyone at PTP!
